March 16, 1988
Roberts Oil Company
Page 6
collected from each of the monitoring wells where no floating product is
observed. At each well where no floating product is observed, the well will
be purged of stagnant ground water in the well utilizing a nitrogen driven
Teflon bladder pump. Purged water will be drummed and stored onsite.
Following purging, each well will be sampled utilizing a decontaminated
Teflon bailer, and transferred to laboratory supplied sample containers. The
sample containers will be labeled, logged on chain of custody forms and
placed in an ice chest for transport to a State Certified laboratory for
analyses, In wells where floating product is less than one-quarter inch, a
ground water sample will be collected. In wells where floating product is
observed to be greater than one-quarter inch thick, only the depth to ground
water and the thickness of the floating product will be recorded. A ground
water sample will not be collected as it can be assumed that where floating
product is present the dissolved constituents have reached equilibrium
values.
Laboratory analyses of the ground water quality samples collected will be
conducted in accordance with Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB)
guidelines.
Ground water samples will be analyzed for Total Volatile Hydrocarbons (TVH)
and Benzene, Toluene and Xylene (BTX) using EPA Method 602.
The samples will be analyzed on a normal (10 to 15 working day) laboratory
turn around time, unless rush charges are requested (rush charge 3 times the
normal rate).
n.
