• Mr Michael Infuma
Page 2
the February 27, 2001 monitonng data is depicted on Figure 2 Groundwater monitoring data are
summarized in Table 1 Monitoring data sheets are included in Attachment A
Prior to sampling, monitoring wells MW1 through MW3 were purged of a minimum of three well
casing volumes During the purging process the physical parameters of temperature, pH and electrical
conductivity were measured No sheens were noted during the purging of any site wells Samples
were collected after the physical parameters stabilized and water level recovered 100% Purge water
was contained in appropriately labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums The drums are currently
being stored onsite Purge logs are included in Attachment A
Groundwater samples were delivered under chain of custody protocol to Argon Laboratories (FLAP
#2359) Analysis consisted of BTEX using EPA method 8020, TPHg and TPHd using modified EPA
method 8015, and gasoline oxygenate additives, 1,2 DCA and EDB using EPA method 8260
GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
EDB and 1,2 DCA were not detected in any site wells, and no detectable levels of TPHg, TPHd,
BTEX, or gasoline oxygenate additives were present in the samples collected from wells MWl and
• MW2 In the sample collected from MM3, BTEX was not detected, X TBE was detected at a level of
1,500 parts per billion (ppb), and TPHg and TPHd were reported at concentrations of 2,400 ppb and
5,700 ppb, respectively Analytical results are summarized in Table 2 Attachment B contains
laboratory reports and chain of custody documentation
SUMMARY
• Groundwater levels at the site have risen since the last round of sampling
• Groundwater flow direction remains in a northwesterly direction
• This is the sixth consecutive sampling event where TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, gasoline oxygenates, 1,2
DCA and EDB have been at non-detectable levels in wells MW 1 and MW2
• BTEX was at non-detectable levels in well MW3 for the first time since groundwater monitonng
and sampling began at the site, however detection limits were elevated
• In well MW3, TPHg decreased slightly compared to the previous sampling, and TPHd decreased
an order of magnitude
• The level of MTBE increased slightly in well MW3 relative to the previous sampling event
.1ary chAgmrN1gm2001 doc
