THE REMEDIATION PLAN ..
Foothill Engineering proposes that the soil remediation be done in two sections to keep the best
possible access to the owner's equipment service area(see attached sketch). The section under over-
excavation will be fenced to protect the public. Surface traffic will be routed around the section under
excavation. The excavation will be limited to a projected slope of 1:1 from the building foundations
as not to endanger the structural integrity of the surrounding buildings. No shoring or foundation
support will be utilized. It is estimated that the first section will yield a volume of+/- 3000 CY of
both contaminated and clean soil.
Both clean and contaminated soil will be stockpiled on plastic sheeting on the west side of the
property. After the actual volume and soil contamination levels are determined, the owner will decide
on disposal or treatment. Contamination levels of excavated soils will be determined by combined
samples.
SOIL SAMPLING
After excavation of each section of the project, confirmation samples will be taken from the sidewalls
and bottom of the over-excavated area. Sidewall samples will be taken at twenty foot intervals. The
excavation floor samples will be taken at random or as ordered by PHS/EHD at a rate of
approximately one sample for every 400 square feet of surface area.
All samples will be taken from excavated material in the excavator bucket or by taken by hand in
place. Standard brass soil sample liners will be used to collect and contain the soil samples. Each liner
will be sealed with aluminum foil, standard plastic cap and duct tape and labeled. All liners will be
placed in individual sealed airtight bags and labeled. Samples will be shipped with ice, under chain-of-
custody to Sherwood Labs, Hilmar, California.
TEMPORARY FENCE
A temporary fence will be placed around the excavation until the excavation is backfilled.
BACKFILLING EXCAVATION
The backfill of each section of excavation will proceed after approval by PHS/EHD. Fill material will
be placed under City of Stockton building permit and to city specifications.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS
All groundwater monitoring wells that are removed will be replaced after backfill is completed.
TENTATIVE WORK SCHEDULE
Excavation to begin after work plan approval
HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
See attached Health and Safety Plan
Respectfully submitted,
Foo ginee QRS g0A
EhG?
ti
Ervin Ri nbur owner
SCF Cim.1 ' 2
