Mr. Ken Price • - 2 - • 21 January 2003
background water quality, then cleanup goals for groundwater may range up to the narrative
water quality objectives as expressed in the Fourth Edition of the Water Quality Control Plan for
the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River Basins (Basin Plan) in order to be protective of
municipal and domestic water supplies. The water quality limits identified in the new criteria
table implement the narrative objectives.
The cleanup levels range from background concentrations to the water quality limit. In some
cases, the Analytical Quantitation Limit is greater than the water quality limit, in which case the
upper range of cleanup levels becomes the Analytical Quantitation Limit.
We look forward to reviewing the FS/RO,which is due by 23 May 2003.
