PROBING AND SF24PLING OF SOIL- SEPITEMBER 1995
On 08 September 1995, AGE advanced one soil probin 3, (S-1)to a depth of 30 feet bsg within the ,
former-UST excavation.using a Geoprobe 5400 probing u 't. Soil samples were collected at five-foot _
intervals, beginning ata depth of 20 feet,,using a Geoprobe sampling assembly loaded with four brass
sleeves. After collection, the ends of the second, brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped
r and sealed with tape. Each sample was then placed in a chi Red container and transported under.chain
of:custody to MAI for analysis. All samples were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d and BTE&X.: . .
No petroleum hydrocarbons were, detected in any oftsoil samples collected from probing S-1.
Analytical results of the soil samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report and chain-af--:
+ custody form are:included in Appendix B.
r-- 3.5. SAMPLING OF STOCKPILE-NOVEMBER 994
Soil samples were, collected from the stockpile generated, from the diesel UST excavation in
November 1994'by'GAS. The sampling was.performed using a metric soil sampler loaded-with two
clean 2- by 3-inch brass sleeves. The ends of the lead .s eeve were covered with aluminum sheets,
capped and sealed with tape. The samples were preserved in a container under ice.and transported
to a MAI for analysis of TPH-g; TPH-d and BTE&X. The samples"were composited at the laboratory
into two samples representing each stockpile prior to aralysis.
Only .TPH-d was detected in both samples, 'ranging om 44 to 500 ppm. Analytical results of .
stockpile soil samples are included in Table 3•. The 1 boratory report and chain-of-custody are
included in.Appendix C,
3.6. SAMPLING OF STOCKPILE OCTOBER 19 5
Additional soil samples were collected from stockpiled oil on 10 October. 1995 by representatives ,
of AGE'., Eight samples were collected from stockpiles "A" and "B" using a metric soil, sampler
loaded with two 2 by 3-inch brass sleeves. The ends o the lead sleeve were covered with Teflon
s sheets, capped and sealed with tape. The samples were placed and transported in a chilled container
for analysis. The samples were composited by.the laboratory into two samples-representing .each
stockpile, for analysis. Each composite sample-was an lyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d and BTE&X in "
accordance with EPA methods 8015, 8015 modified, and 8020; respectively.
TPH-d was detected in samples from stockpile"A" at 56 ripm. No TPH-g or BTE&X were detected
in the stockpile samples. Analytical results of stockpile soil samples are included,in Table 3. The
laboratory report and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix C.'
