Sequoia Analytical is certified by the State of California for the analyses performed. The soil
samples were analyzed for:
' • Nitrate as N(EPA 300);
• Ammonia as AN(EPA 351.2); and
' • Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen(TKN) (EPA 350.3M)
' ANALYTICAL RESULTS
' Backeround
• TKN was detected at 980 mg/kg (ppm) in the sample obtained from 0 to 0.5 feet bgs, which
' decreased to 730 mg/kg in the sample obtained from 1 to 1.5 feet bgs. From 3 to 3.5 feet bgs
it increased to 960 mg/kg, and from 5 to 5.5 feet bgs it increased to 1,000 mg/kg.
• Nitrate as N was detected at 9.5 mg/kg in the sample obtained from 0 to 0.5 feet bgs, which
' decreased to not detected above laboratory reporting limits (ND) in the samples obtained
from 1 to 1.5 and 3 to 3.5 feet bgs. Nitrate was detected at 8.2 mg/kg in the sample obtained
from 5 to 5.5 feet bgs.
' • Ammonia as AN was not detected above laboratory reporting limits (ND) in the sample
obtained from 0 to 0.5 feet bgs, which increased to 8.5 mg/kg in the sample obtained from 1
to 1.5 feet bgs and 5.0 mg/kg in the sample from 3 to 3.5 feet bgs. Ammonia was not
' detected above laboratory reporting limits (ND) in the sample obtained from 5 to 5.5 feet bgs.
' Former Bulk Tank Farm Area
Concentrations for the three constituents both increased and decreased with depth, in the
' Geoprobe boring locations.
• TKN concentrations ranged from 120 to 5,200 mg/kg (ppm). Concentrations both increased
and decreased with depth.
t • Nitrate as N concentrations ranged from not detected above laboratory reporting limits (ND)
to 1,600 mg/kg. Concentrations both increased and decreased with depth.
' • Ammonia as AN concentrations ranged from not detected above laboratory reporting limits
(ND)to 2,500 mg/kg. Concentrations both increased and decreased with depth.
' Analytical results for April 3, 2002 Geoprobe sampling are summarized and presented in
Table 1. Copies of analytical laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are included in
Appendix B. Appendix C contains isoconcentration contour plots for the three constituents at
' four depth intervals.
' 23485060-1\SAC2R335 Page 3 of 5 July 30,2002
Copyright 2002 Kleinfelder,Inc.
KLEINFELDER 3077 Fite Circle,Sacramento,.CA 9-592-7-1815-- (916)366-1701 (916)36b-7013 fax
_ I
