1 • !
1
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1 Concentrations detected in the samples obtained from the "background" Geoprobe boring (BG)
were compared to the concentrations detected in the samples obtained from the vicinity of the
1 three formerly located bulk tank farm structures. One or more of the three constituents (TKN,
ammonia as AN, and nitrate as N) were detected above background levels in each of the 19
Geoprobe borings.
1 "Zero lines" (point where constituent concentrations are at background levels) can be inferred
from the isoconcentration contours plots in Appendix C, but these have not been confirmed with
field testing.
' Since the lateral and vertical extent of impacts to soil appear to extend beyond the sampling
points specified in the initial workplan, the lateral and vertical extent of the impacts can only be
1 inferred with the data collected to date. Kleinfelder recommends additional soil sampling to
generate data that can be used to better estimate the actual lateral and vertical extent of affected
soil.
' A copy of this report should be submitted to Mr. Doug Wilson at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for review.
1 LIMITATIONS
This report was prepared in general accordance with accepted standards of care, which exist in
1 Northern California at the time the investigation was performed. The scope of work was limited
to sampling 19 Geoprobe borings. Conclusions are based on information obtained from
analytical results provided by Sequoia Analytical and information provided by the client. It
1 should be recognized that definition and elevation of subsurface conditions are a difficult and
inexact art. Judgments leading to conclusions and recommendations are generally made with
incomplete knowledge of the subsurface conditions present. More extensive studies, including
1 additional subsurface investigations, may reduce the inherent uncertainties associated with
subsurface modeling. If the client wishes to reduce the uncertainty beyond the level associated
with this study, Kleinfelder should be notified for additional consultation.
