01ECMYED
02 August 2005 AUiI 3 2005
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
Ms. Margaret Lagorio PERMIT/SERVICES
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 953201
Subject: REQUEST FOR SITE CLOSURE
Estate of Peter J. Wallace, Sr.
Former Hess-DuBois Cleaners
348 West Harding Way Stockton, California
Site Code: 2502
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
Based upon the most recent site assessment and ground water monitoring data available, I am
requesting site closure for the facility located at 348 West Harding Way, Stockton, California. This
request is made at the advice of Mr. Allan V. Patton of the State Water Resources Control Board.
Monitoring wells at the site have been sampled for over 10 years, demonstrating that the
contamination is not likely to cause additional harm to the environment.Spending additional money
to assess or cleanup this site does not appear to be justified. Furthermore, as the result of a recent
Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund decision, the Estate of Peter J. Wallace, Sr.no longer has
the ability to pay for any additional monitoring, assessment or remediation costs. The Estate has no
assets beyond the real property that is subject of the investigation.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact me as soon as possible.
Anything you can do to expedite a response would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Peter J. Wall e, Jr.
Trustee, Estate of Peter J. Wallace, Sr.
cc: Mr. Michael Infurna, SJCEHD
Mr. Duncan Austin, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
Mr. Allan V.
