Harding Way
Stockton, CA 95204
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has been the lead
agency for the ongoing underground storage tank (UST) groundwater investigation at
the above noted site since onsite monitoring wells were installed in 1993. The
responsible party for this site has complied with directives issued by EHD to investigate
and define the Stoddard Solvent release associated with the eight (8) USTs removed in
January 1991 and is currently receiving reimbursement from the UST Cleanup Fund for
the required investigation.
Analytical results of groundwater samples from onsite MW-3, just down gradient to the
former UST pit, were 41,000 ug/I Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Stoddard Solvent
(TPH-ss) on the first sampling event on November 4, 1993 and were 2,600 ug/I from
the most recent groundwater samples taken on February 4, 2002.
MW-9 was installed in the former UST pit on April 19, 2001 and the analytical results of
the groundwater samples have shown the highest current detection of TPH-ss, 16,000
ug/I, in the February 4, 2002 sampling event.
Halogenated compounds have also been detected in the groundwater samples from all
but one of the ten on and offsite monitoring wells associated with this site. The most
current quarterly monitoring report for a sampling event held February 4, 2002 indicated
that Vinyl chloride was present in onsite MW-3 at 210 ug/l, offsite MW-6 at 190 ug/I,
and in offsite MW-10 at 220 ug/I.
Additionally, groundwater from offsite and down gradient monitoring wells MW-6 and
MW-10 have the highest concentrations of cis-1, 2 Dichloroethene, Tetrachloroethene,
and Trichloroethene. As of the February 4, 2002 sampling event, MW-6 groundwater
samples had 1,200 ug/1 of cis-1,2 Dichloroethene which was the highest offsite impact
from this UST site. Groundwater samples from down gradient MW-10 had 890 ug/I of
cis-1, 2 Dichloroethene during this same sampling event.
