I do know that while the site was in LOP,
the nieces and nephews named as exec/co-executors of the estate were trying to sell the
property until they learned that they/the trust would not be relieved of RP status. Last
I heard there was no money anywhere for/from this site and they had no plans to continue
to spend any of their money on the site.
EHD has learned during the building demo, TWO OTHER USTs have been discovered. It appears
OIL is in one and the other appears empty. Unsure if it's waste oil or product oil.
Kasey Foley of our UST unit may have more info for you on the new, unknown USTs. Kasey can
be contacted at (209) 468-3451.
For your info, I was under the impression the former UST portion of the investigation was
at the 'delineated' phase and I was pushing the site RP towards remedial
alternative/feasibility evaluation when Mr. Trommer/Clean Up Fund (CUF) denied the site
qualification to the Fund and requested a substantial amount of money BACK. NO remedial
tests or action, other than over-excavation at UST removal (-1992?)was ever done.
-----Original Message-----
From: Jim Barton [mailto:jbarton@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 3 :10 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH] ; Brian Newman
Cc: Robert Busby
Subject: Re: Fwd: UST Cleanup Fund, 5-Year Review Process for ActiveClaims
Brian,
1) No, the LOP transferred Hess-Dubois Cleaners to SLIC due to the large PCE plume.
2) Don't know whether this was another 601 Miner & 75 Alpine trust.
Mike, can you help answer #2? Thanks.
Jim
>>> Brian Newman 10/12/2006 2 :01 PM >>>
Couple questions
1) Was the UST portion taken care of? If so was an NFAR issued or was it just transferred
to SLIC? and
2) Is this one where the assets went into one trust and the contaminated site went into
another?
Brian
>>> Duncan Austin 10/12/2006 1:53 PM >>>
You are correct except its worse. The attorney in charge of the trust has now died and I
have been told there was very little money left in the trust. The county has torn down
the building as it was a public health hazard. Unless we get some money from the CAA or
elsewhere, this site is going nowhere.
Duncan
>>> Jim Barton 10/11/2006 10 :42 AM >>>
Brian,
HESS-DUBOIS CLEANERS
348 HARDING WAY W
STOCKTON , CA 95203
1
