 r
/ 22 February 1993
(GeoAudit CV30-34E3-1. 33)
sources of hydrocarbon contamination were identified up-gradient of
the site. The Rose Marie Realty World at 1 North Cherokee Lane was
formerly a gas station; the current Beacon Gas Station at 35 North
Cherokee Lane; and the northeast corner of East Pine Street and
North Cherokee Lane (Oak Furniture Outlet) was formerly a gas
station.
The Beacon station has had a documented release of hydrocarbons and
remedial action has been undertaken. However, no records or
documentation of tank closure and/or soil and groundwater
investigation at the other two sites were found (PES report dated
31 July 1991) . It was also reported that a gas station, dry cleaner
and automobile repair shop were formerly located on the block
immediately south of the site (in the vicinity of MW-12 and MW-13) .
The presence (or former presence) of a dry cleaners south of the
site could explain the volatile halocarbons (8010/601) detected in
the nearby monitoring wells. These off-site sources should be
investigated as to their possible contribution to the overall
contamination plume.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact our office.
Sincerely,
GEOLLOGICAL AUDIT SERVICES, INC.
Bob Marty
Project Geologist
cc: Mr. Jeff Werner, GLDM y.
M,r 4&A,4k,, 4 S1 -Pim '_"J
