Upon evidence of activity of the inoculated bacteria, the following round of soil borings will be drilled an additional three feet from the previous round of borings. Borings will be drilled with a hollow-stem auger drill rig. Drilling will consist of continuous coring with continuous detailed logs of the geological strata. Coring will extend to the surface of the water table. Soil samples will be collected for analysis beginning at the upper edge of the contaminated zone, at all changes in lithology, at the top of the capillary fringe, and just above the surface of the water table. With adequate justification, selected samples, rather than all, may be submitted to the laboratory for analyses. ID Cone penetrometer technology may be used to replace soil borings where applicable. The Board shall be notified five days in advance of any drilling.
