mar,MEMH
" .s
2
direction was S25W with a gradient of 25 feet/mile in October
1986. This is more southerly than the [low direction at the
Geweko site.
2. Water levels were measured in the wells on the Geweke site.
The calculated flow direction from monitoring wells MW--1,
M11-3, and MW-4 was 535W with a gradient of 21 feet/mile on
December 22, 1966. This compares with S66W with a gradient
of 27 fsef:/mile on February 11, 1986, and 540W with a
gradient of 26 feet/mile on July •14, 1986. This variation
indicates that there is a seasonal adjustment in the
;J groundwater flow direction due to natural groundwater
recharge' and to local pumping during the irrigation season.
However, the groundwater gradient remains fairly constant
throughout the year. A comparison of water levels for
February, July, and December shows 1.5 feet or less of
seasonal fluctuation Beneath the site.
3. It appears that the underground storage tanks reportedly
located at the real estate office adjacent to the Geweke site
j have been removed. It is unclear if there was any contamina-
tion observed at the time of removal; however, the Lodi Fire
Department Certificate of Inspection does not note any.
Conclusions
Based on the results of these new data, SC concludes the
following;
a
1. The report of contaminated groundwater beneath the Beacon
station, located obliquely upgrad-rent northwest of the Geweke
site, supports the need for a more extensive review of 'the
groundwater contamination problem in this area of Lodi. This
problem is more widespread than one which could be caused
r
