Soil sampling was accomplished by
driving a 2-1/2-inch-diamGter by 18-inch-long brass tube-lined
modified California sampler into the soil using a 140--pound
down-hole hammer (mountzd on the drilling rig) . The sampler
was
washed with laboratory grade detergent and rinsed with
deionized stater between each use to prevent cross-contamination.
Upon removal from the borehole, the ends of the soil coreq
contained in the brass sampling tubes were visually inspected
for soil characteristics and odor. Soils encountered were
generally silty sands. Borehole logs if GL-1 through GL-5
are included in Appendix . a. The tubes were then sealed with
aluminum foil and an air-tight plastic cap, and labeled with the
project and borehole number, depth interval, end date. The
samples were stored in a chilled ice chest and transported to
Brown and CaldwelA. 's analytical laboratory 'in Emeryville,
Cdliforaia, to be analyzed for BTx and TPH. Chain-of-custody
forn,s were completed for all samples. The analytical results
6 are shown in Table 2.
3
?I 'Fable 2.
