i <br /> Geological Audit Services Inc. <br /> Environmental Professionals <br /> 1803 March Lane, Suite A•Stockton,CA 95207-6414•(209)956-0264•Fax(209) 956-0700 <br /> June 9, 1994 <br /> IGeoAudit #133 <br /> Ms Elizabeth Thayer <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGIONAL WATER QUALITY <br /> CONTROL BOARD O�� <br /> 3443 Routier Road U <br /> I Sacramento, CA 95827-3098 <br /> Subject: Bioremediation of Hydrocarbon Impacted Soil and Groundwater <br /> Geweke Land Development and Marketing <br /> 16 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Dear Ms Thayer <br /> During the meeting at the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> (CVRWQCB) on May 13, 1994, several questions and concerns were expressed by the <br /> CVRWQCB as to the progress and potential of the in-situ bioremediation project at the <br />• referenced site In order to more fully assess the effectiveness of the project, as proposed <br /> and implemented by Geological Audit Services, Inc (GeoAudit), to the CVRWQCB, and <br /> to alleviate any remaining concerns, we present the following comments and additional <br /> analysis concerning the "pilot study" operated between February and March of 1994 These <br /> comments and additional analysis are in response to the May 13, 1994 meeting <br /> 1.0 BACKGROUND <br /> GeoAudit, having obtained a Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR) waiver, had planned <br /> to perform a complete soil and groundwater inoculation of the site However, subsequently <br /> the CVRWQCB expressed reservations and requested the "limited" inoculation as a pilot <br /> study In order to proceed with the site remediation and attempt to comply with Cleanup <br /> and Abatement Order No 93-701, GeoAudit advised the client, Geweke Land Development <br /> and Marketing (GLDM), to proceed with a "pilot study " GLDM agreed and only five wells <br /> were inoculated <br /> On February 2, 1994, approximately 650 gallons of inoculum were injected into five wells <br /> MW-4, VW-1, VW-4, VW-5 and VW-6 As directed by the CVRWQCB, the inoculum was <br /> isolated from the groundwater using a rubber, pressurized packer The packer prevented <br /> direct inoculation of soil beneath 40 feet <br /> C_1.S_1 And,t 5e�I., 1 <br /> 1 a3,a w no 110&94 <br /> Full Spectrum Environmental Services• Hydrogeology <br />
