. Quarterly Report
March 1997
Geweke Land Development & Marketing
16 South Cherokee Lane
Lodi, California .
1.0. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK
At the request of Geweke Land Development & Marketing (GLDM), and in accordance with
Cleanup and Abatement Order No. 93-701,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc., (AGE) has prepared
this report of monitoring and remediation field activities performed at 16 South Cherokee Lane,
Lodi, California during the first quarter of 1997. The site and its surroundings are illustrated on
Figure 1 - Vicinity Map. Structures and well locations are shown on Figure 2 - Site Plan.
Ground water monitoring is scheduled on a periodic basis to assess remediation progress and
microbiological activities. The scope of work covered by this report was to evaluate the field data
and summarize the progress of the in-situ bioremediation project and to document monitoring
activities at the site during the first quarter of 1997. Results of previous investigation and monitoring
at the site are detailed in the Problem Assessment Report(PAR) and the Quarterly Report- March
1996
s
2.0. PROCEDURES
2.1. MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
On 18 March 1997, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in
each monitoring well (Table 1). Monitoring wells MW-7, MW-8, MW-14 and EW-1 were purged
using a 2-inch diameter submersible pump. Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-6 and MW-9
through MW-13 were purged using clean PVC bailers. A minimum of three well volumes of water
was removed from MW-6 through MW-14 and EW-1. Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-5 were
purged dry after approximately I gallon of water was removed from each well.
Temperature, pH and conductivity of the purge water were measured at regular intervals using an
ICM water analyzer. Dissolved oxygen was also measured during purging of monitoring wells MW-
6 through MW-14 and EW-1. Monitoring well stabilization data and field sheets are included in
Appendix A. The purge water was placed in DOT-approved drums and stored on-site.
2.2• COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
After purging, the depth to ground water was remeasured in MW-1 through MW-5 to check for
. recharge. Recharge greater than 100% was observed in MW-1 through MW-5. Water samples were
