02 January 2015
AGE Project No. 14-3298
that minimal hydrocarbon impact was present in soil surrounding the former dispenser
islands and at the tank excavation base. However, groundwater impact was not present
in site monitoring wells.
Based on historical investigations, AGE has prepared the following work plan to
evaluate the potential for soil-vapor intrusion at the site surrounding the former
dispensers and the former underground storage tank area. Procedures for the soil-
vapor intrusion investigation are described in detail below.
SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance a total of five paired soil borings at the site surrounding the
former underground storage tank area and dispenser islands. Borings will be advanced
to depths of five and ten feet bsg for collection of soil-vapor samples. Proposed soil
boring locations are depicted in Figure 1.
Borings will be advanced using a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 direct-push drill rig. Soil
vapor samples will be collected from one of the two paired borings at a depth of 5 feet
bsg; a second boring will be advanced adjacent to the first boring and a vapor sample
will be collected at a depth of 10 feet bsg.
Soil-vapor samples will be submitted to a California Department of Public Health
(CDPH)-Certified laboratory and will be analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA-
method 8015-modified; and
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in accordance with EPA-method 82608.
Upon completion of the field work and receipt of laboratory analysis, a brief report will
be prepared. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional
Geologist.
PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (EHD) and a site-specific Health and Safety Plan will be prepared.
Prior to mobilization, each soil boring location will be clearly marked and a utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert. The EHD will be contacted a
minimum of five days prior to conducting investigation activities to arrange for
inspection.
Advanced GcoCnvironmcntal.Inc.
