The levels of contamination detected in the
ground water samples may require some remedial action. The first
stage in any further work should emphasize the collection of data
that would allow resolution of the uncertainties and further
define the configuration of the ground water contaminant plume.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Further work is required at the site to define the extent of
ground water contamination, and to determine whether the tanks on
site are responsible for the presence of volatile hydrocarbons in
the subsurface. Volatile components were detected at levels
above safe drinking water standards. To date, no floating
product has been observed in the monitoring wells.
We recommend that the first stage of any future work include the
drilling of an additional well. This well would be located
directly north of the tank excavation, near the margin of the
site, and will provide the data necessary to resolve whether the
site tanks are responsible for the contamination and will add to
13
A,v o/ied GeoS.Wems
