• August 19, 1988
AGS Job No. 86091-6
Page 3
concentration in the sample collected from Well MW-5 was below
the detection limit of the analytical method used; the
concentrations of the other volatile constituents have increased
but were below the maximum levels for drinking water recommended
by the DHS. The concentrations of all volatile constituents in
the sample collected from well MW-3 are below the maximum levels
recommended by the DHS.
Applied GeoSystems recommends continued ground-water monitoring
of this site on a quarterly basis. Because of the concentrations
of some volatile constituents, we also recommend that a vapor-
recovery system be implemented to mitigate soil contamination in
the vicinity of the tank cavity. A vapor-recovery system should
reduce the concentration of the volatile hydrocarbon contaminants
in the soil adjacent to the tank cavity, and may reduce the
existing contaminant concentrations in ground water. Mitigation
of ground-water contamination at the site should not proceed
A until the effectiveness of the vapor-recovery system can be
evaluated.
Copies of this report should be forwarded to Ms. Laurie Cotulla
of the San Joaquin County Local Health District, Environmental
Health Division, 1601 Hazelton Avenue, P.O. Box 2009, Stockton,
Ay• California 95201 and Mr. Gordon Lee Boggs of the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, 3443
Routier Road, Sacramento California, 95827-3098. Please do not
hesitate to call if you have any questions regarding this
project.
Sincerely,
Ap lied GeoSystems
jT
John Bazley Bobbitt
J R.G. 4313
Attachments: Plate P-1, Site Vicinity Map
Plate P-2, Generalized Site Plan
Table 1, Cumulative Results of Subjective Analyses
Table 2, Cumulative Results of Laboratory Analyses
Chain of Custody Record
Laboratory Analysis Reports (5)
i
