SITE CLOSURE EVALUATION REPORT
BEACON STATION NO. 502 D
35 NORTH CHEROKEE LANE
LODI, CALIFORNIA JUN 0J
IDELTA PROJECT NO. D093-907 V 8 1995PF"MENt
1.0 INTRODUCTION
' Delta Environmental Consultants,Inc. (Delta), has been authorized by Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar)to review
remedial actions conducted at Beacon Station No. 502, located at 35 North Cherokee Lane, Lodi, San
' Joaquin County, California, and to evaluate whether these remedial actions have reduced concentrations
of petroleum hydrocarbons in the subsurface to levels which would warrant regulatory closure of this site.
This report summarizes work conducted at the site and presents our findings. This report has been
prepared in accordance with Appendix B of the Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for
Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites dated March 1, 1994, by the
California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (CRWQCB).
1
2.0 PROTECT BACKGROUND INFORMATION
2.1 Site Description
The site is a retail gasoline station located at the southwest corner of Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in
Lodi, California. The location of the site is shown in Figure 1. The site is paved with asphalt and
concrete and is occupied by a cashier office/convenience market, two gasoline dispenser islands, and a
' canopy. There are three double-walled underground storage tanks at the site which contain regular
unleaded, unleaded plus, and supreme unleaded gasoline. The elevation of the ground surface at the site
' is approximately 53 feet above mean sea level and the topography in the vicinity of the site is virtually
flat. A site map is shown in Figure 2.
The surrounding area includes retail stores along Cherokee Lane and to the east of the site, and residential
neighborhoods north, south, and west of the site.
2.2 Site History
The presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water beneath the site was detected during
removal of a 10,000 gallon diesel fuel tank in September 1986, and installation of monitoring wells
MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 in October 1986. Monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5 were installed in
November 1986 and March 1987, respectively, and vapor extraction wells VW-6 through VW-9 were
RPT139.SJS
