4TH Quarter SVES Report,Beacon#502 Lodi
Since the inception of the program in 1991, a significant amount of contamination has
been removed from the subsurface with the program surpassing the 523 pounds extracted
mark during the fourth quarter.
The SVES conditions remained consistent throughout the quarter, extraction wells VW-8
and VW-9 were the only wells open, system flow rate averaged 60 scfm, no water was
collected in the water knockout, and system TVH concentrations declined by 68 percent.
1 R. INDIVIDUAL MONITORING EVENTS
The following section describes how the SVES was adjusted within the performance and
compliance limits of the system during each monitoring.
` 05 October, 1992 Servicing.
g
tThe system was down and operated 4 days since 22 September 1992. The station
manager was receiving noise complaints. The pump unit was down due to electrical
problems (blown relay), but the incinerator continued to operate at 1,500 degrees
Fahrenheit. The system was not restarted
08 October, 1992 Servicing.
The relay was installed and air bags were taken for influent and effluent. The air bags
were analyzed to determine the reduction efficiency of the catalysts and whether the
catalysts had deteriorated due to exposure to high temperatures. Analytical results were
' 806 ppm for influent and 131 ppm for effluent. This corresponds to a 84 percent
reduction efficiency, which was below the required destruction efficiency of 90 percent as
outlined in permit condition number 5. The system was not restarted and a new catalysts
was ordered.
16 October 1992 Servicing
A sound blanket and the new catalysts were installed. Testing of the wells and system
adjustments were performed to ensure system operating satisfactory. Vapor Wells VW-8
and VW-9 had TVH concentrations of 750 ppm and 1,020 ppm, respectively, but may
have been elevated due to rebound. These were the only wells open to the VES.
2
r
