VZ1 INC,
2.0 WORKPLAN TECHNICAL APPROACH
A review of the area surrounding the Henry Hansen property at 200 South Cherokee Lane
indicates a possible chance for nearby offsite soil and groundwater hydrocarbon contamination
sources. A review of PHSEHD records for Local Oversight Program(LOP) sites present within
a distance of t/z mile suggests that at least six or more hydrocarbon contaminated sites are
present.
The horizontal and vertical delineation of soil hydrocarbon contamination at the Henry Hansen
i site has not been determined at this time, but an initial estimate of approximately 1,000 cubic
yards or more of hydrocarbon-impacted soil may be in place based on initial soil samples.
The sequencing of tasks identified in this workplan is designed to comply with the Leaking
Underground Fuel Tank(LUFT)Assessment and Re ediation Guidelines (CRWQCB, 1989),
Tri-Regional Board Guidelines for site investigations(CRWQCB, 1991) and recent directives
published by the Underground Storage Tank Reimbursement Fund.
Task 1: Site Background Investigation
The purpose of Task 1, Site Background lnvestigatio , is to obtain the necessary background
technical information available for the subject parcel and any surrounding properties that may
impact any site assessment or remediation activities.
The proposed background investigation will follow p otocols approved by PHSEHD and the
California Regional Water Quality Control Board(CRWQCB). The investigation will include a
review of documents regarding the site and its vicinity. It will also summarize the available data
and will present a series of work items performed to provide the data necessary to evaluate the
source or sources, nature and extent of contamination in the soil and groundwater on the
property. Specific topics to be addressed in the investigation will include the following items:
08420010.001 4
