f
CHRONOLOGY
225 S. CHEROKEE LANE, LODI
7/13/98 A "No Further Action Required" (NFAR) letter was provided on this
site for underground storage tanks (UST's) removed in September
1988 and June and July of 1991 (3 gasoline UST's and 3 waste oil
UST's). EHD approved ARCO's request to not destroy the three on
site monitoring wells and 10 vapor extraction wells. The three off
site vapor wells were destroyed. In July 1991 four new gasoline
UST's had been installed in an area east of the former gasoline
UST's.
8/15-20/02 The four gasoline UST systems installed in July 1991 were
removed. Prior to the removal of these UST's, ARCO submitted a
soil excavation plan to remove contaminated soil should it be
necessary.
8/23/02 Soil staining and odor were observed in the northeast corner of the
UST area so an area approximately 10 feet by 10 feet in the
northeast corner of the UST excavation was further excavated to a
depth of 20 feet. This generated about 45 tons of contaminated
soil. Soil samples were collected from the sidewalls and bottom of
this area. EHD requested the on site monitoring wells be sampled
and that analysis for 1,2 DCA be included since it wasn't analyzed
for prior to the July 1998 NFAR letter.
12/27/02 Date of EHD letter stating that results of groundwater samples
collected on 10/3/02 were similar to the March 1994 through
November 1996 water sample results except that 1,2 DCA was
detected. The letter directed further sampling and analysis of the
monitoring well water and stated that further investigation would be
required if 1,2 DCA was over the Maximum Contaminant Level for
drinking water.
11/17/03 Date of EHD letter directing that a work plan for investigation of the
extent of the 1,2 DCA be submitted.
11/25/03 Reopened the UST case in Geotracker since the 1,2 DCA would be
from the UST's removed in 1991.
12/4/03 Date a Notice of Responsibility was sent to the responsible parties.
3/22-23/04 Soil borings B25 through B27 were installed. There were no
contaminants in the soil but groundwater from B25 had 1,2 DCA.
