Soil samples collected from soil borings drilled in October 1990 near the existing gasoline tank cavity did not contain hydrocarbons at levels that warrant remediation;however,we are submitting this 9 work plan to obtain authorization to excavate hydrocarbonous soil from the tank cavities during replacement operations. This document describes our methods, results, and conclusion. associated with the initial investigation and the proposed work associated with ® the removal of the underground storage tanks arld possible additional excavation. The tank replacement project will not begin until this work plan is approved by the SJPHS. SITE BACKGROUND AND ADJACENT PROPERTY ARCO Service Station No.760 is on the northeast cornet of South Cherokee Lane and Lodi Avenue in Lodi, California, as shown on the Site Vicinity Map (Plate P-1). The property Is adjacent to the site at the intersection is commercial and residential. The approximate locations of present site features are shown on the Generalized Site PIan (Plate P-2). According to information supplied by ARCO, there are two 8,000-gallon gasoline-s,orage tanks and one 6,OOa-gallon gasoline-storage tank (labeled T-1 through T-3,respectively, on i� Plate P-2) at the site. Tank T-1 stores super unleaded gasoline, tank T-2 stores leaded gasoline, and tank T-3 stores unleaded gasoline. ® REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY , The site is underlain by the Modesto Formation, which is composed of alluvial sediments ® that range in size from gravel to sand and silt (Marchand and Allwardt, 1977).
