I <br /> Working To Restore Nature <br /> 3164 Gold Camp Drive <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 <br /> Phone (916)852-6690 <br /> Fax (916) 852-6688 <br /> January 7,_1993i7 <br /> Mr Chuck Carmel ,)Al 3 I 1 93 <br /> ARCO Products Company ENVIPONMEis TAL HEALTH <br /> P O Box 5811 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> Subject Results of Subsurface Environmental Investigation and Addendum to Work <br /> Plan for Work at and Adjacent to ARCO Service Station No 760, 225 South <br /> Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Mr Carmel <br /> This report summarizes the status of the environmental investigation performed by RESNA <br /> Industries (RESNA) for ARCO Products Company (ARCO) and presents an addendum to <br /> the work plan for additional work at the subject site The site location is shown on the Site <br /> Vicinity Map, Plate I The phase of investigation recently completed included drilling nine <br /> soil borings and installing seven vapor-extraction wells at and adjacent to the site The <br /> location of these borings and wells and site features are shown on Plate 2 The purpose of <br /> the investigation was to further investigate the lateral and vertical extent of residual <br /> hydrocarbons in soil that were previously detected at the site and to install vapor-extraction <br /> wells for possible remediation of soil <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In September 1988, Applied Geosystems (AGS) observed removal of an underground <br /> storage tank located to the east of the station building AGS collected appropriate soil <br /> samples under the tank according to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division, guidelines Information provided by personnel of ARCO <br /> indicated that the 550-gallon tank was used to store waste oil <br /> Between May and October 1990, eight soil borings (B-1 through B-8) were drilled near the <br /> former waste-oil tank east of the station building, around the perimeter of the existing tanks, <br /> and in the area where the new tanks were proposed On June 13, 1991, RESNA observed <br /> drilling of three soil borings and the construction of three vapor-extraction wells (VW-1 <br /> through VW-3) A vapor-extraction test was conducted on June 14, 1991, results indicated <br /> 38048-7 <br />
