In addition,pre- <br /> submittal must also demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Engineer that the equipment <br /> being proposed meets or exceeds all performance and safety requirements, materials of <br /> construction and user benefits of the specified equipment. All bids utilizing <br /> manufacturers not pre-approved will be considered non-responsive. <br /> 1.05 Operation and Maintenance Manual <br /> Four (4) copies of an operating and maintenance manual for the grinder pump station <br /> shall be furnished to the Owner and one (1) copy to the Engineer prior to completion. <br /> The manuals shall be prepared specifically for this installation and shall include all <br /> required cuts, drawings, equipment and parts lists, descriptions, etc. that are required <br /> to instruct operating and maintenance personnel familiar and unfamiliar with such <br /> equipment. <br /> 1.06 Warranty <br /> The pump manufacturer shall provide a parts and labor warranty on materials and <br /> workmanship for a period of thirty-six(36)months after notice of Owner's acceptance. <br /> The Owner will return any equipment found defective to the manufacturer for <br /> inspection and validation of the defect. Level controls shall be warranted to be free <br /> from defects for a period of ten(10)years from acceptance of owner. <br /> 1.07 Operating Conditions <br /> The pumps shall be capable of delivering 15 gpm against a rated total dynamic head of <br /> 0', 12 gpm against a rated total dynamic head of 80' and 6 gpm against a rated total <br /> dynamic head of 220'. The pump shall be capable of running throughout the curve as <br /> well as at negative heads without overloading the motor. <br /> PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 Pump <br /> Each grinder pump shall be a heavy duty pump used as a grinder. Each grinder pump <br /> shall be capable of reducing all components in normal domestic sewage, including a <br /> reasonable amount of "foreign objects", such as paper, wood, plastic, glass,rubber and <br /> the like, to finely-divided particles which will pass freely through the passages of the <br /> pump and the 1-1/4" diameter discharge piping. Major pump components shall be of <br /> grey cast iron, ASTM A-48, Class 3013, with smooth surfaces devoid of blow holes or <br /> other irregularities. All exposed nuts or bolts shall be AISI type 304 stainless steel. All <br /> metal surfaces coming into contact with the wastewater, other than stainless steel or <br /> brass, shall be protected by a factory applied spray coating of acrylic dispersion zinc <br /> phosphate and polyester resin enamel. <br /> The pump rotor shall be 304 stainless steel, with a 520-720 tensile strength, a minimum <br /> of 40% elongation and maximum of 200 HB hardness. For increased stability and <br /> reduced shaft deflection a brass ring shall be tightly affixed to the pump rotor below <br /> the lower mechanical seal. The pump stator shall be Nitrile rubber and shall be <br /> resistant to wear caused by materials found in domestic sewage including but not <br /> limited to coffee grounds, powder detergent and the like. <br /> 2 <br />
