must be built by the Pump manufacturer, pumps utilizing third party motor
manufacturers are not considered equal.
The motor shall be designed for continuous duty handling pumped media of 40 C (104
F) and capable of no less than 30 starts per hour. Motor will be suited for pressure
sewer system hydraulic conditions. The rotor bars and short circuit rings shall be made
of cast aluminum. Thermal switches embedded in the stator for permanent connection
in the control panel shall be included. When temperatures in the coils reach 125 C (260
F) the switches will open and the motor will stop, when the motor sufficiently cools the
switches will automatically close and the motor will start.
The motor is sufficiently cooled by the surrounding environment or pumped media.
The use of a water cooling jacket is not required. To reduce the risk of environmental
concerns and the expense of disposal oil filled motors are not accepted.
2.06 Cable Entry System
The cable entry seal design shall preclude specific torque requirements to insure a
watertight and submersible seal. The cable entry shall consist of a single cylindrical
elastomer cable gland, flanked by washers, all having a close tolerance fit against the
cable outside diameter and the entry inside diameter and compressed by the body
containing a strain relief function, separate from the function of sealing the cable. The
assembly shall provide ease of changing the cable when necessary using the same entry
seal. Epoxies, silicones, or other secondary sealing systems make it difficult to replace
power cable and shall not be considered acceptable.
2.07 Motor Starting Controls
All necessary motor starting components should be located in the control panel for ease
of serviceability. Pumps that require removal from the wet well to repair or replace
start components are not acceptable due to the additional maintenance requirements.
Single phase motors shall utilize separate start and run capacitors to maximize starting
torque and running efficiency.
2.08 hc-vel Controls
Optional A:
Pump hall operate by a Flygt level control system with a 3 point probe for tomatic
level con The probe shall be constructed from uPVC 32mm tubin moulded
sensor units egular intervals along the probe. Each sensor um be PVC injected
to prohibit Ingres f moisture, and the sensor material will b vesta SMO254 stainless
steel. Sensors will be aced along the length of the pro ssembly, and each will be
individually connected to correspondingly number VC/PVC .75mm flexible cable.
The moulded sensor unit ' ntain two Aves ensors mounted on opposite sides of
sensor unit. Each Avesta sensor ' be 24 high and no wider than 2mm, and will
protrude from the surface of the PV e probe shall be pressure injected with an
epoxy resin to encapsulate all int al c onents and connections to form a rigid,
homogenous unit. Eachsens unit cont ' the two Avesta sensors will be rotated
90 degrees to the previo sensor unit to elimin tracking between sensors. The cable
will be encoded wit umber and text along the ent y of the cable and at intervals not
greater than 2 , for identification. This cable will dark blue in colour, with the
cores ligh ue. The flexible cables shall be capable of sup ting the weight of the
prob d cable, without the need for additional support. The le shall be secured to
4
