KAYO OIL
COMPANY 1221 East Main Street Chattanooga, TN 37408-1696
(615)615) 756-5770
July 5, 1985 AIRBORNE
Ms. Laurie Cotulla, R.S.
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division ,
1601 E. Hazelton Avenue
P. 0. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Monitoring Wells at 800 E. Highway 12
and 900 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi, CA
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
This is to inform you in writing of the need for Douglas/Kayo to
drill additional monitoring wells at the two stations referenced
above. I am aware that you or a representative of your office has
been present during the installation of the existing monitoring
wells by I. T. Corporation. Briefly stated, several of the initial
wells are no longer functional as a groundwater monitoring tool.
Specifically, at the Fast Gas station on Highway 12, 9 of the 13
wells on site cannot monitor the groundwater conditions. In addition,
at the Douglas station on Cherokee Lane, 6 of the 9 wells on site
cannot monitor the groundwater conditions. Because contamination is
apparent at both stations, the data in hand does not allow correct
conclusions to be made as to the true source of contamination or
the direction of groundwater flow.
Therefore, Fox Environmental Services, Inc. , will be directing the
installation of the additional monitoring wells following your
approval of the permit applications. Thank you for your help and
understanding in these cases.
Sincerely,
1
 Z'Z'
Kellilliamson
irecto Environmental Affairs
cc: J. R.
