KAYO OIL
COMPANY 1221 East Main Street Chattanooga, TN 37408-1696
(615) 756-5770
E F
June 13, 1985 1
JUN 2 1 198E
ENVIRUMENTAL HEALTH
F ERMIT/SERVICES
Mr. Gordon Lee Boggs
Toxics Specialist
Central Valley Region W.Q.C.B.
3201 S Street
Sacramento, CA 95816-7090
Dear Mr. Boggs:
This letter is to follow—up our correspondence of May 15, 1985, regarding the
geotechnical data and environmental assessment of the self—service stations in
the Central Valley Region, The geotechnical reports should be completed by
Monday, June 17 for the following stations:
Douglas — Lodi, CA
Fast Gas — Lodi, CA
Econo — Stockton, CA
Fast Gas — Jackson, CA
The reports shall describe the area of alleged contamination on Kayo property
or, if it becomes apparent that another source is likely, then the information
will clearly state our basis for reaching that conclusion.
In instances where Douglas believes that its facility(s) is the source of
contamination the reports will include a discussion of any remedial actions
necessary to protect the beneficial use of the resources of concern. Douglas
takes the position that any clean—up levels which are established will be
based on economically and technically sound reasons.
Following the review of the final draft reports from I.T. Corporation, the
legal and technical aspects of the data will be further reviewed by Conoco.
Allowing time for this review process, a complete package should be forwarded
to your office and respective counties by Monday, July 15. Douglas wants to
meet with you and San Joaquin and Amodor County Health Departments in Stockton
the last week of July or the first week of August. The meeting will be to
discuss the conclusions and recommendations of the reports and reach a final
decision regarding remedial actions, if any, for the stores listed above.
