Mr. Jim Thompson -2- 22 May 1987
1. Monitor wells (MW) 1 and 2 are improperly screened and may need to be
plugged and abandoned.
2. MW 2 may be too shallow for other than vadose zone monitoring so a new
ground water monitoring well may be necessary at the MW 2 location.
3. In the other four monitor wells at the site (MW 3,4,5,6) the water level was
above the top of the screen each time it has been checked to date. This
means that water samples collected from these monitor wells may not be
adequate to check for ground water contamination. Aquifer tests need to be
performed_ to determine where the static water level actually is at this
location. The aquifer test can also be used to accurately determine if and
in what direction water is moving beneath the surface.
4. An accurate site and hole location map needs to be prepared (including
accurate hole elevation data) .
5. Cross-section C-C7 (which was left out of the report) should be included and
geologic information from prior reports should be used in the construction
of any new geologic maps or cross-sections.
6. Drilling data from MW 1 and 2 should be provided.
7. Additional monitor wells need to be installed northeast and northwest of MW
1.
8. Additional boreholes are needed to define the extent---of--soil-contamination. — ----
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 361-5731.
_"X
_ZA-
GARY .
