Box 190
Lodi, CA 95241
SEIMMARY OF 14 APRIL 1987 MEETING WITH JIM THOMPSON, KAYO OIL, GREGG GIBBS, GMS AND
ASSOCIATES, AND GARY JOHNSON, REGIONAL BOARD
On 14 April 1987 we met with your com t Gregg Gibbs of GMS and Associates to
discuss your stations at 'n Lodi, and at 1001 Sacramento,
in Broderick. Following is we agree mu be done at each site:
900 S. Cherokee, Lodi
The discussion centered around the poor-geologic correlation between previously _.
drilled monitor wells and boreholes. In order to better interpret the subsurface
conditions, SP/Resistivity logs have been run in all existing holes. The logs,
combined with previously existing data, indicate that several monitor wells are
improperly screened. Some screens start near the surface and extend to the bottom
- of the hole. _ These screens form conduits between zones of high permeability,
thus making the degree of contamination in any particular zone difficult; if not -
impossible, to determine. Kayo intends to plug and abandon all monitor wells that
are improperly completed.
We agreed that several. of the monitor wells were improperly completed. Approval
to plug and abandon these wells must be obtained from the county. Additional
monitor wells are also needed in all directions away from the tank system to
define the extent of soil and ground water contamination (including the piping and
dispenser islands). We expect that the additional wells necessary to define the
extent of contamination will be drilled the same time you install the replacement
wells during your redrilling program.
_Because you will be submitting proposals prior to actual field work, we should be
able to avoid the problem of improperly -scfeened wells--in--the: future I also—
poi-nted
lso--pointed out that if assessment reports always incorporated data from prior
assessment reports, any inconsistencies in geologic interpretations should be
eliminated in the future.
1001 Sacramento, West Sacramento (Broderick)
Concerning the Dames and Moore report submitted 30 March 1987, I pointed out
several areas where- additional work needs to be done:
