I
Mr. Jim Thompson
December 28, 1986
Page Two
Task I - Establish Site Geology
This task would include conducting the electric logs
on four existing deep wells at the Cherokee Station. From this
information GMS will develop isopacks and cross-sections of the
site. After the site geology has been documented, GMS will
recommend which wells should be plugged and the location of the
new monitoring wells. At this time GMS can not estimate the
number of wells to be plugged and the number of existing wells to
be installed. Note: if the existing survey information is not
consistent, then GMS will need to survey the existing wells to
develop the cross-sections and isopacks .
Task II - Determine Hydrogeological Conditions
This task is to plug several of the existing
monitoring wells and then install new wells. After this site
work is completed, GMS will have the new and existing wells that
will be used surveyed. GMS will then develop the wells and
collect representative samples for analysis. Analysis will
include Total Organic Carbon (TOC) , pH, Conductivity, Benzene,
Toluene, Xylenes, Ethyl Benzene. Note: Aromatics will be tested
by GCMS. GMS will conduct two sampling cycles which will include
water level determinations as well as product thickness
determinations. GMS will conduct geotechnical testing on core
samples collected during the installation of the new monitoring
wells.
Task III Groundwater Assessment Plan
This task will be to develop a Groundwater
Assessment Plan and if necessary develop the type of Remedial
Action necessary to improve groundwater quality. This plan will
be based on the information developed from the existing data base
and the isopacks, cross-sections and analytical data developed
under task I & II. This plan will be certified by a Profession
Geologist and Engineer.
Task IV - Meet with the California Agencies
This task will be to meet with the local and state
agencies to explain the Assessment Plan and the recommendations
outlined in the referenced plan.
GMS & ASSOCIATES
