Project A152 21 May 1992
17 April 1992 Monitoring:
The system had been down since 3:00 p.m. the day before (16 April) and
was purged prior to monitoring to minimize rebound. The ground gate was
fully open. The influent was again increased by decreasing ambient
dilution to the limit of the exit temperature.
At the conclusion of this monitoring, the dilution valve opening was
reduced and 8 of the system's 23 extraction points were left open. The
system vacuum was raised to 4.8" Hg and the system was extracting
approximately 213 pounds of hydrocarbons per day.
22 April 1992 Monitoring:
On this interim monitoring, only the extraction points were monitored.
However the system influent was increased by increasing the catalyst
exotherm by 1000F.
A new dilution system for the field OVA was tested on this date. The
dilution system should assist in obtaining TVH readings from wells with
high concentrations and low oxygen. Samples were obtained from VP-2,
MW-1 and MW-17 for comparison of the field OVA readings with the
laboratory Gas Chromatograh results.
The results are presented below and show good agreement between the field
and laboratory values.
VP-2 MU-1 MH-17
OVA 3,360 ppm 15,120 ppm 8,400 ppm
TPH 3,638 ppm 12,088 ppm 9,656 ppm
CH4 43 ppm 46 ppm 62 ppm
The 02 and CO2 readings were taken during this visit. Again, the
dilution valve opening was reduced from the initial setting. At the
conclusion of this monitoring, 11 of the system's 23 extraction points
were left open. The system vacuum was 4.0" Hg.
6 May 1992 Monitoring:
A complete system monitoring was undertaken on this date. (lith the
dilution monitoring system , it was determined that MW-10 had a TVH
concentration of 36,000 ppm; a level well beyond the previous 10,000 ppm
previous full scale range of the OVA. At the conclusion of this
monitoring, 13 of the system's 23 extraction points were left open. The
system vacuum was 3.0" Hg and the system was extracting approximately 203
pounds of hydrocarbons per day.
-2-
