Ms. Wendy Cohen
May 19, 2005
Soil Analytical Results
On April 4 and 5, 2005 five soil borings were advanced at the subject site. Soil samples were
analyzed by Argon for TPHg, TPHd, and BTEX. Additionally, selected samples were also
analyzed for gasoline oxygenate additives including EBD and 1,2-DCA.
No petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, including gasoline oxygenates/additives, were detected
in soil samples collected from borings SBI, S132, S133, and SB5. TPHd was detected in S134 in
the 25-foot and 45-foot samples at 190 ppm and 160 ppm, respectively. TPHg was detected in
SB4 in the 25-foot and 45-foot samples at 340 ppm and 4.0 ppm, respectively. However, the lab
reported that TPHg detected in the samples from S134 has a chromatographic pattern that does
not match the typical gasoline standard. Heavier hydrocarbons were detected (believed to be
diesel). Xylenes were also detected in S134 in the 25-foot sample at 0.82 ppm. No other analytes
of concern were detected in S134. Soil analytical results are summarized in Table 1. A copy of
the laboratory report is included in Attachment D.
Discrete Groundwater Analytical Results
Discrete groundwater samples were collected from each of the four soil borings advanced by
Ground Zero on April 4 and 5, 2005. The groundwater samples were analyzed by Argon for
TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and gasoline oxygenate additives including EDB and 1,2-DCA. No
analytes were detected in any of the groundwater samples. Groundwater analytical results are
summarized in Table 2. A copy of the laboratory report including chain of custody
documentation is included in Attachment D.
SUMMARY
Five soil borings were advanced at the site on April 4 and 5, 2005. Soil and discrete groundwater
samples were collected from the borings and analyzed for the appropriate constituents of
concern. No analytes of concern were detected in soil samples collected from borings SB 1, S132,
S133, and S135. Low levels of TPHd, TPHg, and xylenes were detected in two soil samples
collected from SB4. No constituents of concern were detected in any of the discrete groundwater
samples.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The results of the boring investigation, taken together with the trench sample results, indicate that
soil is impacted with fuel hydrocarbons, primarily diesel, only in the immediate vicinity of the
G:\GROUNDZE\TIGER'.REPORTS\R"'dSRrcpon.doc
