Onan Cummins: The Onan Cummins
Generator tank has an Ingersoll Rand
mechanical float operated product level gauge
which is visible only when the doors to the
generator system and fuel tank are opened.
The gauge was inspected and determined to
be in good working condition. Since this
system is for standby power generation ,this
generator does not use fuel on a regular or
constant basis, and can be inspected on
scheduled inspections for product levels, vs.
electronic sensing of the product levels.
Overfill Bucketa/Fill Locations:
ConVault Tank: The 6000 gal. ConVault AST had product residue in the Baker Box fill
location, which acts as overfill device. The Baker Box system is a UL Listed system and the
Box has a manual hand pump for pumping product spilled in the Baker Box back into the AST
system. There were absorbent mats in the bottom of the Baker Box, but no discernible level of
product in the bottom of the Baker Box, only residue. The cam-lock connection for filling is
inside of the Baker Box, with a cap on it to prevent dripping. Also, there is a functional ball-
valve in-line from the cam-lock connection as an emergency shut off device. hr-line on the 3
inch fill pipe, there is a one-way check valve to prevent siphoning back into the Baker Box
location.
Onan Cummins: The Onan Cummins Generator-fuel tank system does not have an overfill
protection bucket or other device. Overfills are prevented by filling operator personnel being
personally present during filling operations and observing the fill levels and operations in order
to prevent overfills and a resulting spill.
Vents:
ConVault Tank: The ConVault AST
has one 2 in..Atmospheric vent CARB
vent device, which are in operating v /a
condition and are unobstructed. The
atmospheric vents go thru the top of the • • v t
tank and terminate far below the above +
roof, which is designed to allow vented
vapors to dissipate and not to gather in '
any measurable concentrations, which
precludes atmospheric flammable
congregating beneath the roof and
creating an explosive or combustible
condition. The ConVault 6000 gal. AST
has an 8 in. Morrison Bros. emergency _
