.,.
} MURRAY & ASSOCIATES
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
February 2, 1990
Harlen Knoll
San Joaquin County Health Department .
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009 FEB 6 12,
Stockton, CA 95201 -'' rp,
Y/ tRVrGt-o
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Re: Groundwater and Soil Contamination Assessment Workplan - Stan Morri Ford
Dealership - Tracy, California
Murray & Associates is forwarding for your review and consideration the following
proposal to conduct a groundwater and soil contamination assessment at the Stan Morri
Ford Dealership, 104 West 11th Street, Tracy, California. The contamination assessment
proposed herein will accommodate all regulatory concerns. Also attached is a completed
permit application for the construction of the proposed groundwater monitoring wells, and
a check for $35.00.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
groundwater and soil contamination in the proximity of the facility's former 200 gallon
waste oil tank. Approximately 100 cubic yards of contaminated soil was removed for off-
site disposal on January 16 and 17, 1990. A Tank Excavation Assessment Report which
describes the soil remediation activities and summarizes the analytical results of both soil
and groundwater sampling from the excavation has been prepared and will be forwarded
to your office shortly-
GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT
Because minor groundwater contamination has resulted from the seepage of waste oil
through the vadose zone soils, Murray & Associates proposes to install three groundwater
monitoring wells in the locations shown on Figure 1. Detail lithologic logs will be kept on
each boring and soil samples will be collected by driven sampler at 5 foot intervals. Each
soil sample will be screened in the field using an HNu photoionization detector capable
of detecting the presence of toluene. Samples from each 5-foot interval will be
appropriately sealed and packed on ice for potential later chemical analysis.
2252 Fort Point Drive, Gold River, CA 95670 (916) 635-0639 • FAX (916) 852-1411
