The monitoring wells were installed to monitor ground
water contamination from removed gasoline and diesel underground storage tanks. Monitoring wells
were installed directly through previous direct push borings, which were sampled at 5.0-foot intervals
beginning at 10 feet below surface grade- Drill cuttings were placed in 55-gallon drums that were sealed
and stored on site pending sample analyses.
Soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline by U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8015M, TPH as diesel, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes (BTEX1 and methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) compounds were analyzed by USEPA Method
8020, and five fuel oxygenates by USEPA Method 8260. No detectable concentrations of TPH as
gasoline,TPH as diesel,BTEX, or the five fuel oxygenates were found in the 46 soil samples submitted
for analysis. Certified laboratory data sheets and chain of custody forms for the collected soil samples are
attached.
Because the drill cuttings contained no measurable petroleum hydrocarbons, HETI requests on site
management of the soil cuttings by the Central California Traction Company.
Sincerely,
Hydro-Environmental Technologies,Inc.
William E.Motzer,Ph-D.,R.G.
Western Regional Manager
Attachment:
