In addition, groundwater monitoring
analytical data with corresponding sampling event dates were not presented in a tabulated
format in the quarterly monitoring report. Quarterly groundwater monitoring analytical
data must be provided to PHS/EHD in all reports in a table showing every contaminant
analyzed and chronological dates of sampling events. Data tables must be updated in
each report to show the range of contaminant concentrations starting with the baseline
sampling event and continuing to the most recent sampling event.
In summary, soil contamination at this site appears defined in the area of the former diesel
UST to a depth of forty feet bsg. TPHd contaminant levels were reported at 22,000
milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) in the ten foot bsg sample and 2,000 mg/kg in the forty
foot bsg sample. Water contamination at the site is currently monitored by three shallow
monitoring wells located to surround the former UST areas. While the levels of
contamination in the water samples are not high, the water contamination detected in the
former diesel tank pit area during the URS Greiner Woodward Clyde investigation is
currently not being monitored. Groundwater flow direction has changed over the two
completed monitoring events from northwest to northeast. Future monitoring events
should indicate what the predominant groundwater flow direction at this site is. The data
collected to date indicate that another monitoring well is needed closer to the former
diesel tank pit area, possibly located directly northwest from the URS Greiner Woodward
Clyde boring labeled B-1.
Submit a work plan for the installation of the additional monitoring well to PHS/EHD by
July 23, 2001. Quarterly groundwater monitoring must continue at this site until directed
otherwise by PHS/EHD.
