Cecchuu, Cecchuu, and Gnovannom, FY+ehng Island
2v0 Background
2A Ske Setfnung
The site is located in east Stockton, California at 3535 Fast Cherokee Road (site) The
site is at an approximate elevation of 25 feet above mean sea level and the topography of
the area is relatively flat (USGS, 1968) The site is situated in a commercial district To
the north of the site is a truck repair shop, to the east is State Highway 99, and to the
west a truck scale and vacant lot The Stockton Diverting Canal is approximately 2,200
feet to the southwest of the site
2.2 Me History
One well, designated UST-1 was installed in 1990, three new wells designated UST-2,
UST-3, and UST-4 were installed in 1995 and one new well designated UST-5 was
® installed in 1996 'These five wells are located in the fueling island area (Figure 2 - Site
j Map). Well UST-1 had problems with infiltration of fuel from the surface and its seal
was repaired twice in 1993 The vault box was repaired in March 1995 An internal
sealmg cap now secures the well from surface infiltration
In October 1992, ESE implemented a quarterly monitoring program that includes the
measurement of ground water elevation and collection of ground water samples from well
UST-1. Ground water recovery from UST-1 began in 1993 as a voluntary interum
remedial measure. As of July 1, 1993 the monitoring program also included water level
measurements in three additional ground water monitoring wells (SI-1, SI-2, and SI-3)
located in the northern portion of the site and two water supply wells, the "large" well
and "small" well (see Figure 2 - Site Map).
In an effort to ascertain the size of the potential hydrocarbon plume at UST-1, three new
monitoring wells were installed at the site on April 4, 1995 The three additional
monitoring wells were proposed in a Workplan dated September 19, 1994 by ESE to
further monitor hydrocarbons in ground water beneath the fuel island An addendum to
the Workplan dated January 24, 1995 was prepared to document changes in the location
of the wells per a letter dated December 5, 1994 from Mr Michael Infurna of the
SJCEHD The permit for monitoring well installation approved on March 22, 1995
f 169254WXgtrly rptl3gtr96 rpt 2 Environmental Science do Engineenng, Inc
