If the pit walls are unstable, or if the excavation is <br /> judged to be unsafe on the basis of field evaluation, the sample <br /> will be collected from the backhoe bucket immediately after it is <br /> i brought to the ground surface. Sampling procedures will be <br /> similar for samples collected from spoil piles. Samples will be <br /> collected from the material as it is placed in the respective <br /> piles, with collection and analysis of at least one sample for <br /> i <br /> every 30 cubic yards of excavated material. <br /> Immediately after each sample is collected, the brass sleeve will <br /> 4 <br /> be removed from the sampler and sealed with aluminum foil, <br /> plastic caps, and airtight tape. The sample will then be labeled <br /> and placed in iced storage for transport to the laboratory. <br /> Chain of Custody Records will be initiated in the field by the <br /> sampler and will accompany the samples to the analytical <br /> laboratory within 24 hours of sample collection. Results of <br /> analyses should be available within 14 days from the date of <br /> i <br /> sample submission and will be promptly communicated to the <br /> 4? client. <br /> Sampling tools and brass sample sleeves will be thoroughly <br /> cleaned prior to field work with a solution of laboratory <br /> 10 <br /> Applied GeOSYSMMS <br />
