The <br /> backhoe used to excavate the soil will be directed to excavate <br /> soil from appropriate locations. <br /> Soil samples will be collected by driving laboratory-cleaned <br /> brass sample sleeves, 6 inches in length and 2 . 5 inches in <br /> diameter, into native soil with a hand-operated percussion <br /> sampler. The sampler consists of a brass sleeve mounted in a <br /> threaded stainless steel driving shoe. The sample sleeve will <br /> then be driven into the soil in the backhoe bucket immediately <br /> after it is brought to the ground surface. Sampling procedures <br /> will be similar for samples collected from spoil piles. Samples <br /> will be collected from the material as it is placed in the <br /> respective piles, with collection and analysis of at least one - <br /> sample for every 30 cubic yards of excavated material. <br /> Immediately after the sample is collected, the brass sleeve will <br /> be removed from the sampler andisealed with aluminum foil, <br /> plastic caps, and airtight tape. The sample will then be labeled <br /> and placed in iced storage for transport to the laboratory. <br /> Chain of Custody Records will be initiated in the field by the _ <br /> sampler and will accompany the samples to the analytical <br /> 9 <br />
