2.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the findings of the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
conducted in the area of the former UST at the Suburban Propane facility,
located at 23901 South Chrisman Road in Tracy, California. The project area is
illustrated in the Drilling Location Map contained in Appendix A (Figure 1).
2.1 AUTHORIZATION
Authorization to perform the assessment was given by signed copies of PSI
proposal No. 582-146 and 582-146 addition, between Suburban Propane and
PSI, dated May 16, 1995, and March 4, 1996, respectively.
2.2 PURPOSE
The purpose of the assessment was to provide the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) enough information to determine if the
subject site meets the criteria for clean closure.
2.3 SCOPE
PSI's services for this Phase II Environmental Site Assessment were comprised
of the following tasks:
developing a Site Health and Safety Plan;
• drilling and sampling four soil borings to assess the soil in the area
surrounding the former UST. Gregg Drilling & Testing, Inc., of Martinez, CA
performed the drilling using a Simco 2400 for three borings and a Mobile 13-
53 for the fourth;
collecting soil samples from each boring. Soil samples were collected at five
foot intervals and screened with a photoionization detector (PID). One soil
sample, collected at or below the groundwater table, was submitted for
laboratory analysis from each boring;
filling one of the four borings with cement/bentonite grout;
• installing three monitoring wells to assess groundwater conditions in the area
of the former UST. Two-inch diameter Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
screens and casing were used to construct the wells;
developing, purging, and collecting two rounds of groundwater samples from
each well using dedicated Teflon bailers; these samples were also submitted
for laboratory analysis;
V
2
v
