3. 1 Sampling Procedures (Section B.4.0 of the Phase II Work Plan)
Tables 3-1 and 3-2 list the proposed samples to be collected for soils/sediments, and
waters, respectively.
3.2 Analytical Procedures (Section B.7.0 of the Phase II Work Plan)
Chemical analysis of the Phase III samples will be performed by Environmental Science
and Engineering, Inc. (ESE) in Gainesville, Florida and Quanterra, Inc. (Quanterra) in
Sacramento, California. ESE will perform all analyses except for total petroleum
hydrocarbons and total and hexavalent chromium. Both laboratories are approved by the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), MRD Division and the State of California to
perform the required analyses.
In addition to the methods listed in Table B-5 of the Phase II Work Plan,Method 7196 will
be used for the analysis of groundwater and soil samples for hexavalent chromium. The
method reporting limits for the total and hexavalent chromium analyses are shown in Table
3-3. Sample container requirements and maximum acceptable holding times will be as
noted in the Phase II Work Plan with additional requirements for chromium analyses, as
noted in Table 3-4.
3.3 Data Reduction, Validation, and Reporting (Section B.8.0 of the
Phase II Work Plan)
All Phase III data will be subject to baseline data validation (Level III) as described in
Section B.8.2 of the Phase II Work Plan. Due to the limited number of samples to be
collected and to the condensed schedule associated with the Phase III investigation, Level
IV data validation will not be conducted.
4.0 PHASE III HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
Health and safety procedures will be performed in accordance with Appendix C of the
Phase II Work Plan. There are no planned modifications for Phase M.
5.0 PHASE III SCHEDULE
The proposed schedule for conducting the Phase III investigation is presented in Figure 7.
As the project progresses, the consultant will continuously monitor actual progress against
the schedule due dates. The consultant will then be responsible for maintaining, and if
necessary, updating the project schedule. The consultant will keep the CEHND informed
of any known or anticipated delay or acceleration of project activities.
4
