TEW Se 14 , 92 15 : 24 N0 . 007 P . 03
were transported to the analytical laboratory, ETC, under chain-of-custody protocol. Copies
of tl,e sampling log lxx)k sheets have been included in Appendix H.
5.1.2 IRM Wells and Observation Well
5.1.2.1. Groundwater from each of the six IRM wells and the observation well were purged
and sampled to provide information on the groundwater chemist y at each of those locations
beneath the site. The static water level at each IRM well sampled-And at the observation well
were measured and recorded in the field log book. Prior.toIInitiating, purging at each well,
the measured water level was used to calculate the volume of water to` purged prior to
sampling. Observation well LM 45 was developed on 29 April 1992 by surging and pumping
the well until the water quality parameters stabilized And the water was clear of visual
suspended material. The water quality parameter readings associated with purging of the
IRM wells and Well LM 45 are included in Appendix,.H. In general, the following
procedures were used during purging and,sampiing of ea'Ch well;
• All equipment was decontaminatetl,.pri& to use at each well location ('IRM wells
202, 204, 205, 207, 208, 209 and observation well LM 45).
• All equipment,(sounders; hose clamps, pumps, cables, and Teflon bailers)
associated with.groundwater.measuremem, development, purging and sampling
were cleaned using a solution of laboratory grade soap(alconox) and potable water,
and were prised with potable water and then deionized water. The decontamination
fluids were transferred to the lined ponds for evaporation.
• Water level and total depth of each monitoring well were measured using a
200-foot electronic water level meter (5olinist) prior to sampling,
• Purging of the wells was performed using a Grundfos 2-inch submersible pump or
by bailing. '
• At each well, water quality parameters (pH, specific conductance, and temperature)
were measured and recorded during purging. Color and odor were observed and
recorded. Copies of the sampling log book entries are included in Appendix H.
QNW0 W.IMDRW DERV 5-2
MOnpMged
