6. Appendix D, Section D.2 . 6. 3. , Page D-6
The text states that matrix and blank spike recoveries were
within the accuracy of approved work plan limit (AWPL) for
TCLP extractions analyzed for metals. The lab's Executive
Summary shows that in the analysis of the sample of waste
drill cuttings for Well 2 , arsenic was present at greater
than four times its spiked level and therefore the matrix
sample does not provide useful recovery data. The pH of
this sample was 11. 3, significantly higher than the waste
cutting samples from Well 1. Please expand the text to
reflect this result.
7. Appendix D, Section D.2 . 10.1, Page D-8
The Well 2 waste cuttings sample, retrieved May 7, 1992 , was
originally provided to the lab in insufficient quantity to
perform all the analyses ordered. Additional sample was
retrieved on May 12 , 1992 and delivered to the lab.
According to the laboratory Executive Summary, elevated
levels of "high boiling point hydrocarbons other than
diesel" caused substantial matrix interference in the diesel
analysis. Please discuss the significance of the presence
of this high boiling point hydrocarbon.
4
i
