The Department, the California
Regional Quality Control Board, and the Defense Depot Tracy
intend to approve necessary actions to mitigate ground water
contamination at the following site:
Defense Depot Tracy
25600 South Chrisman Road
Tracy, CA 95376
A Proposed Plan has been prepared to provide the Agencies and
the Public with an analysis of the on-site ground water
remediation alternatives and recommends a preferred remedial
alternative. The Proposed Plan also describes the site
location; summarizes the environmental characteristics of the
site and the surrounding area; and summarizes the nature and
the extent of the ground water contamination. The Proposed
Plan also describes the possible adverse environmental affects
posed by the possible remedial action alternatives.
Containment of the ground water on-site by pumping, treatment
of extracted ground water by air stripping, and re-injection
of the treated ground water are recommended in the Proposed
Plan.
The actions that the Agencies intend to approve at this
hazardous waste site are defined as a "project" according to
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and therefore,
are subject to the requirements of that Act. To fulfill the
CEQA requirements, the Department has prepared an Initial
Study for the site.
