DSERTS 72 is located
along the west bank of Solid Waste Management Unit's 2 and 3, both of which required
remedial activities to remove pesticide contaminated soil. Soil excavated during the
installation of the storm drain was stockpiled and sampled and found to be
contaminated with DDX, chlordane, endrin, and selenium. A subsequent study,
conducted to characterize the magnitude of the soil contamination, indicated that, while
residual levels of pesticides in the vicinity of DSERTS 72 remain, they are below levels
that pose a risk in excess of one in one million.
DSERTS 72 was identified after the finalization of the Basewide Record of Decision
(ROD) and as such was not identified in the ROD. The cleanup standards identified in
the ROD for the constituents found at DSERTS 72 were established to be protective of
California Environmental Protection Agency
® Printed on Recycled Paper
HMAE
HM18W.100
"•"1 OSP 99 25498
