• Draft Final Site-Wide ROD -4- 26 January 1998 DDJC Tracy 5. Section 9.6.5. Add the following text to the sentence in paragraph 3.b. "without continuing SVE system operation." 6. Section 9.6.8. Add the following sentences after the third sentence in this section: " 1. Pre-design soil-gas sampling wil be conducted at the areas designated for SVE remediation. 2. The investigation will be expanded from the identified areas as needed to define the lateral and vertical extent of contamination above the soil-gas cleanup standard." Add the following sentence at the end of this section: "Additional SVE wells or other optimization techniques will be added as needed to address soil-gas concentrations in excess of the soil-gas cleanup standard." 7. Section 9.6.9. Add the following sentence after the first sentence in this section: "Techniques other than cycling the system (e.g. additional SVE wells, air injection)will be added as necessary to achieve the cleanup standard." 8. Section 9.7.2.4. Add the following sentence before the last sentence in this section: "Confirmation samples will be collected to ensure that cleanup standards will be attained." 9. Section 9.7.3.8. Text which discusses four rounds of samples is appropriate . . ." and "Annual sampling for four years . . ." is inconsistent with the text presented in Section 9.7.3.4 and Section 9.1.2 which specify that the selected remedy includes ground water monitoring for as long as contaminants remain in place which pose a threat to ground water quality. The third, fourth, and fifth sentences in this section should be deleted and replaced with references to Sections 9.7.3.4 and 9.1. 10. Section 9.7.4.6. The following sentence should be added to the end of this section: "VOC soil-gas concentrations in excess of the soil-gas cleanup standard will be remediated." 11. Section 9.7.5.3. The following sentence should be added after the second sentence in this section: "Confirmation samples will be collected to ensure that cleanup standards will be attained." 12. Section 9.7.6.5. The first two sentences should be replaced as follows: "Bioventing(Figure 9-10) is expected to biodegrade the CoCs which pose the greatest threat to ground water. Therefore,the recommended alternative significantly reduces the potential for migration of soil contaminants to ground water and is protective of beneficial uses." The last sentence should be replaced as follows: "Therefore, ground water monitoring for PCBs and pesticides is considered adequate to address the remaining threat to ground water posed from these CoCs. Ground water will be monitored for as long as contaminants remain in place which pose a threat to ground water quality or until it can be demonstrated that no further threat to ground water exists." 13. Section 9.7.6.8. The words "at least"should precede the words"three quarters"in the first sentence of this section. 14. Section 9.7.7.3. This section incorrectly refers to SWNIU 24 versus SWW 27.
