Jim Pinasco
June 21, 1994
Page 9
The Report discusses TCE contamination in the Middle
hydrogeologic horizon and states "TCE concentrations detected in
the sample from the Rose well (PW1) during the October 1993
sampling round are similar to TCE concentrations detected
previously in samples from this well. " The Report does not state
the reported TCE concentration for the Rose well and the Rose
well is not shown on Figure 5-3 , TCE concentrations for the
Middle hydrogeologic horizon from October 1993 . In addition, the
1 pg/L TCE contour on Figure 5-3 does not extend to the Rose well
(PW1) .
Recommendations
The Report should be revised to include the reported TCE
concentration for the October 1993 Rose well sample and Figure
5-3 should be revised to include the Rose well and the reported
TCE concentration. In addition, if the TCE concentration from
the Rose well is greater than 1 pg/L, the 1 pg/L contour should
be changed to honor the Rose well data.
13 . Figure 5-12 , Lower Horizon PCE Concentrations and
Potentiometric Surface
The Report states in Section 5. 1. 3 .2 on page 5-8 that Figure
5-12 shows the TCE plume and potentiometric surface in the Lower
horizon. However, the title incorrectly states "PCE" rather than
"TCE" .
Recommendations
The title on Figure 5-12 should be corrected to reflect TCE
concentrations rather than PCE concentrations.
14 . Effect of Potential Source Areas on Dieldrin Concentrations,
Section 5.2 .2. 5, page 5-17, Section 5. 2 .2.7, page 5-18 and
Figure 5-17, Potential Dieldrin Source Areas and Historic
Detections
The Report lists several wells, including LM62A and LM24A
with historic dieldrin detections and references Figure 5-17.
However, LM62A is not shown on Figure 5-17.
MSAI
MS63.064/106
