• <br /> 1.2.3 Filter Pack Certification <br /> The contractor shall submit certification of cleanness of the filter pack. <br /> 1.3 QUALIFICATIONS <br /> The driller shall be licensed in the state of California, according to the state requirements, have at <br /> least five(5) years experience in installing,developing, and abandoning monitoring wells. <br /> 1.4 DELIVERY STORAGE AND HAND IN <br /> Monitoring well materials shall be stored and maintained in a clean, uncontaminated condition <br /> throughout the course of the project. <br /> PART2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 WELL CASIN . <br /> Monitoring well casing shall be new,4-inch nominal diameter, schedule 40 flush joint threaded <br /> ASTM D 1785 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)pipe. Gaskets,pop rivets, or screws shall not be used. A <br /> PVC cap, that threads onto the top of the well casing shall be provided. The pipe shall be free of <br /> oils,paint, grease, dirt, and any manufactures markings that could alter the chemistry of the <br /> groundwater samples. The use of solvents, glues,or adhesives will not be allowed. <br /> 2.2 WELL R .F.N <br /> Monitoring well screens shall consist of new commercially fabricated flush joint threaded 4 inch <br /> nominal diameter PVC continuous slot,non-clogging design. The screen slot size shall be 0.010. <br /> The screen length shall be determined in the field, but shall be no more than 20 feet or similar to <br /> the abandoned wells,if possible. The bottom section of the screen shall be sealed watertight by <br /> means of a flush threaded end cap of the same material as the well screen and shall be within 6 <br /> inches of the open portion of the screen. <br /> 2.3 FILTER PACK <br /> Filter pack shall consist of clean, washed, rounded to sub-rounded siliceous material free from <br /> calcareous grains or material. Organic matter, soft, friable, thin,or elongated particles are not <br /> permissible. The gradation of the filter pack shall be uniform in size. An airtight pint size glass <br /> container shall be filled with a sample of filter pack material and furnished to the Corps of <br /> Engineers Representative for each well to serve as a quality control. <br /> 02671-003 <br />
